Moss Farm is rated by the English Tourist Board as a Four Star Property Plus a Silver Award ( a rating given to establishments that actually well exceed the points scoring for Four Stars). Only a few establishments within an area can be awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold as the number is limited there as rare as hens teeth! We only know of Moss Farm and one other B&B in our area who have a Silver or Gold Award.

Some of our guests have commented that they selected us primarily because we had the Silver Award.

VisitEngland assesses 24,000 accommodation businesses across a range of schemes including B&Bs, hotels, self-catering, parks and hostels. The annual assessments are carried out on our behalf by a team of professional assessors from Quality in Tourism.

VisitEngland’s unique Gold and Silver awards are given in recognition of exceptional quality within a property's star rating, or for outperforming a star rating. Serviced accommodation (hotels and guest houses) are eligible to receive either a Silver or Gold award, where as self-catering and serviced apartments (new for 2009) are able to achieve a Gold award only.

The assessment criteria for obtaining a Gold or Silver award varies between types of accommodation. However, properties do need to be a member of VisitEngland’s Quality Assessment Scheme in order to go for an award.

Serviced Accommodation: For serviced accommodation, consistent levels of high quality must be demonstrated in all key areas identified by consumers as very important.
